On Pink Floyd and Endless River. The latest (but probably not the last) release. Although this iconic group of musicians (who I hesitate to call a band) is more or less officially done, I believe they will continue to mine the archives and the remaining members will continue to add original material to the library. Waters, Gilmour and Mason cant give it up. Waters especially. Spoiled and insistent as he may be, he may be the flame that keeps Pink Floyd producing. Gilmour cant help himself for displaying his bluesy style and proficiency on several instruments. Nick is just an optimistically wonderful person, like Charlie Watts. This new album is not Animals nor Dark side. It is wonderfully ambient in a Brian Eno sort of way. The ties to Division Bell are obvious and lead me to believe that much of this music should have been interspersed with Division Bell songs and was probably initially meant as such. It is dark and beautiful in the sparsely placed vocals. Richard Wrights piano and organ work hold up and support the music in spite of the posthumous production. There may be hundreds of reasons that I recommend this album. I dont want one of them to be that this is Pink Floyds last production. Im loving it for what it is and appreciating it for the way it was conceived.
