On Saterday we gathered at Univen to attend the political lecture which was titled: ECONOMIC FREEDOM IN OURLIFETIME, the lecture was delivered by Ronald Ozzy Lamula the incoming President of the ANCYL. Members of community and student filled the hall singing his name as the principled leader of the ANCYL and as a former president of SRC of University of Venda. Here is the summary of what he was talking about: 1.He thanked all those people who availed themselves 2.The time for economic freedom is now and the this struggle for economic freedom must never be postponed, the ANC was formed to fight for the economic freedom and political freedom, 3.The 1969 Morogoro conference of the ANC have resolved that when the ANC comes into power we must dismantle the land question we must and all the commanding height of the economy this is how the democratic South Africa must look like informed by the freedom chatter which was drafted in 1955. 4.Majority of people who participated in drafting this freedom chatter were professors, graduates, students, chiefs and also respected members of the community, now it’s the time to do things guided by our own freedom chatter. 5.The only way to can change the society is through the collective effort, the collective effort of workers in the universities and workers outside and everybody it is the one which has assisted to bring the apartheid government down 6.We as the young people we are the future attorney’s, accountant, directors, CEOs, and etc of south Africa and we are the one who must determine what we wish our future south must look like because we are going to live that future. 7.The recently statistics released shows that Majority of young people are unemployed, black graduates are unemployed. Where are the unemployed whites Graduates? Where are the kids of mr Van Tonder in the streets of south Africa? where are the kids of Mr Smith in the streets of south Africa ? where are the kids of Mr Vander Merve in the streets of south Africa? The reason they are not on the street unemployed is because they were the previously advantaged members of society unlike us. 8.Their fathers own everything which is the means of production in this country, they own big companies and they own the land of this country. They own the mineral resources of this country; they own everything that a black child can use to escape poverty. 9.When they graduate the go and inherit the position of their fathers in the companies, mines and etc, unlike us black young graduates, black young graduates must first go and do some silly certificates/bridging courses after graduating because our degree are not credited by SAICA, so we add another year of poverty. 10.That is why the ANCYL is saying the struggle for economic freedom must be fought by all of us. It must be easy for every graduates to follow his/her career, the struggle for economic freedom it’s not only for those who are not in campuses but it is a national call of which everybody must participate. 11.If you are a black engineer here is south Africa you will never get an opportunity to build a stadium but only Marrian & Robert and WBHO companies are the ones to do that, if you are an black accountant you will never audit the books of big companies like MTN , SASOL n etc. if you are a black attorney you will never represent SASOL , MTN and etc why? Because white supremacy is still controlling our economy 12.That is why the youth league said we must enter into the main stream economy of this country, so than we can empower our young graduate who were previously disadvantaged. 13.The land issue remains important as well in the economic transformation of this country and need to be addressed as a matter of emergency, if graduates of agriculture are unemployed but in position of a land they can work something out of is and create jobs for community in large. 14.The struggle for economic freedom will make all of us to be equal with those who were previously advantaged, we just want to share the economy of this country dats all we need. 15.The economic freedom struggle will also unite us as South Africans; we must not be united during a world cup match only. 16.If u get sick now as u are sitted there you will go to Tshilidzini Hospital, but when the child of Vander Merve get sick he will go to Makhado medical clinic because he owns the means of production. He is advantaged than all of us, we want you to sleep next to my vander merve in the same hospital. 17.We must use the same public transport, it must be normal to meet mr Smith at Thohoyandou taxi rank. We want all of you to live is suburbs if possible. 18.Black people does not constitute not even 20% of JSE but it worth a billions of Rands, black people must be in majority. 19.Cyril Ramaphosa and Patrice Motsepe can’t represent us as a black community because u can find that Jay Zee the entertainer is richer than them. This is the struggle of everybody. This struggle will never be won without education. 20. We must refuse to go and work as employees of Shoprite, pick n pay, standard bank and etc as retailers we must go and work were we can change the economy deep deep down. 21.We need an economic revolution to change this South Africa. 22.Youth are in majority everywhere across the world and that is why everything is just moving around young people, high HIV rate young people, high unemployment young people, we must begin to refuse and we must change all these in to positive we are the agents of social change. 23.We are no longer leaders of tomorrow but we are leaders of today, we must begin to refuse when we are told that we are leaders of tomorrow, we are leading now. 24.All revolution which took place in the word which had succeeded if u check you will find that young people were in the fore front e.g Cuban revolution, Russian revolution and South African revolution. This is because young revolutionary are not scared of anything and to take risk. 25.The solution of the problem of economic freedom is in your mind. 26.Young people are creative and the is what is needed, founder of Facebook was a young person; founder of apple was a young person. Even here in SA young people must be empowered and be in the forefront. Young people are creative. 27.We are here to change history, if you are young and behave like your parents, then there was no need for your parents to give birth to you. You must strive to do things differently. 28.The ANCYL o the ANC cannot behave like the ANC, if the President of the ANCYL behaves like a president of the ANC then you must know that there is a problem. ANCYL must never be afraid of anything. 29.The process of rebuilding the ANCYL must not be a way of building the praise and worshipers of the ANC leadership. We must not be afraid to speak about the future this is a creative generation. 30.In the ANCYL is where the must a festival of ideas no has to be sidelined for holding a different view, ANCYL is for everyone below 35 of age, robust political debate must be there, this is the generation of militant young people. 31.The view of Economic freedom will never be liked by those who are in position of power of the mass democratic movement, we must not fear to raise them. 32.We have got the responsibility to make sure that the economic freedom is attained, and those who tell you about 2030 will not be there by that time, we are the custodian of this Economic freedom. The time for Economic Freedom is now and shall never be postponed thank you
