On Saturday, June 28, York Habitat supporters will drop their hammers and don their running shoes to help local, lower-income families realize their dreams of home ownership! This year marks the 11th anniversary of York Habitat’s annual 5K, presented by WellSpan Sports Medicine, The Sides Group at RBC Wealth Management, and Harley-Davidson Motor Company; and sponsored by The York Water Company and York Traditions Bank. Participants will gather at Allen Lane in Dover to “Race to Build.” Beginning the 5K in the cul-de-sac of York Habitat’s Spring Valley Manor II (also known as the “Dover Field of Dreams Project”) is a tradition which allows runners the opportunity to admire the beautiful 16 home neighborhood York Habitat completed in 2009. Part of the WellSpan Running Series, the 5K begins at 8:30am (Race Day registration begins at 7). The race is on rain or shine. Prizes will be awarded to the top overall male and female finishers and the top three male and female finishers in each of the following age groups: under 15; 15-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70 and older. Participants may register in advance at yorkhabitat.org or on race day beginning at 7 am. The entry fee is $25 per participant or $20 per team participant (both of which include a commemorative T-Shirt while supplies last).
