On Saturday, October 4th, 2014, the Junior Stewards of the Upper Mississippi River Refuge went out in the chilly 44-degree weather to collect milkweed seedpods. We collected butterfly weed, whorled and common milkweed. We opened up the seedpods and took the fuzz off the seeds and put them in separate cups. Then we went back outside to plant the seeds. – Reporter of the Day, Logan Zimmerman – Clinton, IA 8th grade.
