On Saturday the little black puppy who had the worst bite of all four surviving puppies cried all afternoon. I dressed the wound and she was so patient but when I put her down she cried in pain. I put a pillow under her which seemed to help ease the pain but later she started screaming again. I took her to the vet who examined her and a large area round the bite wound remained badly infected and hard. This was obviously causing her pain but he felt the wound was healing slowly as no pus was coming out just bloody lymph. He dressed the wound again and I took her home. Since then shes been slowly getting better. I wash the wound out twice a day and over 6mm of antibiotic solution goes into it...thats a lot of liquid which indicates the size of the infection. I then push it all out and put in Betadine solution which is great for healing wounds. Then I bandage the wound and happily she hasnt cried since Saturday. Meanwhile the other 3 puppies are doing well and getting fat but there was a slight setback today when I saw diarrohea in the pen. I saw which puppy was affected to was able to give her medicine immediately. She seems better this afternoon. These little ones need so much care and love. For the first week the white puppy screamed every time I went in the pen to dress her wound. A week later shes the first to greet me at the gate and jumps all over me. Im so happy her terror has gone.
