On Sept. 29th, 2014, Solvay inaugurated “PT SOLVAY CHEMICALS INDONESIA”, a new Solvay Commercial Office in Jakarta, to better respond to local markets and customers’ demands. This inauguration took place under the auspices of Ambassador Patrick Herman, who hosted an official dinner at the Belgian Residence in Jakarta in the presence of Mr.Vincent De Cuyper, Executive Committee Member of Solvay Group, senior Indonesian government officials, ambassadors, business representatives and key Indonesian corporate partners. The creation of “PT SOLVAY CHEMICALS INDONESIA” commercial office will allow the Solvay Group to consolidate its presence in a key country for the future of the Asia-Pacific region. “Indonesia has been identified as a clear strategic growth area in South East Asia for the years to come and we strongly believe in the Indonesian potential. Therefore the creation of our new commercial office in Jakarta demonstrates our commitment to better understand the needs, and further create sustainable value with our customers in Indonesia and in South-East Asia” said Vincent De Cuyper, Member of the Executive Committee of Solvay Group. The event coincided with the first “Solvay Indonesian Days”, held for two days in Jakarta in the presence Mr. De Cuyper and the active participation of all Global Business Units and functions of the Group. Solvay is already present in Indonesia, holding a 50% stake in the joint-Venture “PT Solvay Manyar”, a factory for the production of commodity surfactants in Surabaya (East Java), destined to detergent producers and agrochemical formulators.
