On Sunday, November 2, parishioners from Transfiguration Parish in Russellton gathered at the parish cemetery to pray for those buried there, remembering in particular the unclaimed and forgotten dead, many of whom were immigrants who died in the coal mines or in the flu epidemic in the early 1900s. The prayer service was followed by a special All Souls Day Mass celebrated by Fr. Jim Holland for the families of parishioners who died during the past year. 2014 marks the fifth year at which these events, organized by the parish chapter of the Ladies of Charity and known as Cemetery Sunday, have been observed at Transfiguration.
