On Thursday, September 11, 2014, the City of San José welcomed much needed affordable housing for its low-income family and senior residents. 1st and Rosemary Family and Senior Apartments, a ROEM Corporation development, offer 290 one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments affordable to families and seniors with annual incomes at or below 60% of the Santa Clara County Area Median Income. This $89 million transit-oriented development is located near light rail and provides a sustainable community for its residents while helping the City of San José to meet its housing goals. This project is pursuing USGBC LEED-H Gold certification. Guest speakers included: Leslye Corsiglia, Director of Housing, City of San José; Eugene Lee, Chief, Housing and Community Development (HCD); Jay Abeywardena, Director, Citi Community Capital; Mark Wiese, President, Pacific Housing, Inc.; Corshea Thomas, Housing Development Coordinator, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development–Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH); Tom Johnston, City Council Assistant, City of San José, District 3; Robert Emami, President, ROEM Corporation; Stephen Emami, Vice President of Construction, ROEM Corporation; Derek Allen, Director of Development, ROEM Corporation; Ted Burley, VASH Veteran, 1st and Rosemary Resident.
