On Today, December 2nd, 2013: Gail and I are celebrating our 33rd Wedding Anniversary. Looking back, lest we forget: In 1980 a hit song of that time was, Never Knew Love Like This Before by Stephanie Mills. In film, Stir Crazy, directed by Sidney Poitier, starring Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder, was showing. And, President Jimmy Carter lost to Governor Ronald Reagan, in the United States presidential election. I had just turned 28. Whew! So long ago. Weve come this far by faith! Nevertheless, Im sure that Gail, can attest that many of our years together were not blissful, while others were joyful! However, with Gods help, we persevered. To God be the Glory! The Thirty-Third Anniversary, the traditional gift has a theme of Amethyst. The Greek word amethystos may be translated as not drunken, from Greek a-, not + methustos, intoxicated. Sober, that got me to thinking. And, so, I will share my thoughts with you as it relates to our marriage: In Romans 12:3b, Apostle Paul admonishes us, To think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. It so fitting for this season. Being sober, provides us with an authentic representation of our marriage and our lives. Moreover, being sober gives clarity so that we will not become deluded and misinterpret ourselves as people who are bringing goodness to God. No! The devil is a liar! It all God!!! If there is any good in us or our wedded union its all God! The Word of God cautions us in (1 Peter 5:8), to be,Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour. The truth is, the only accurate way to understand ourselves is by what God is, and by what He does for us, not by what we are, and what we do for Him. Without Christ we can do nothing (John 15:5)! Pride says something else, pride says that its about us! And, That were all that! But, dont drink the Kool-Aid! Thats poisonous! Moreover, the Word say, And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess [which cheapens our lives] ; but be [ever] filled with the [Holy] Spirit.(Ephesians 5:18). In addition, The Voice Version in Ephesians 5:19-20, concludes, stating, When you [we] are filled with the Spirit, you [we] are empowered to speak to each other on the soulful words of pious songs, hymns, and spiritual songs; to sing and make music with your [our] hearts attuned to God; and give thanks to God the Father every day through the name of our Lord Jesus the Anointed for all He has done. So with that, Gail, I pray that our path together ahead will continue to be as sober and authentic a journey as God has ordained for our lives. I pray that His Will be done. And, with the Eternal Ones help, step-by-step, well make this journey, in Christ Jesus, the Anointed Ones name, for Gods Glory! Happy Happy Thirty-Third Wedding Anniversary... I share this greeting publicly and to you Gail, privately as well, may your sentiments be attuned with mine and may love, peace, and joy be multiplied unto us, in Jesus name.
