On Veterans Day, put out your flags, cheer the marchers at parades, and go to tributes. But when you wake up the next day, Nov. 12, remember that it’s still Veterans Day for our veterans — and it will be every day of their lives. — Gen. Colin L. Powell, USA (Ret.) I just want to say thank you to America’s veterans, to salute their service, honor their sacrifice, and promise that their dedication to our country will never be forgotten. In 1954, when November 11th was officially named Veterans Day, President Dwight D. Eisenhower called upon all citizens to join hands in a common purpose – to “solemnly remember the sacrifices of all those who fought so valiantly on the seas, in the air, and on foreign shores, to preserve our heritage of freedom.” I thank you, I admire you, I thank your families for their sacrifices. Thank you that I may live free! You deserve our thanks on Veterans Day and on every day of the year.
