On Wednesday 10th September at the Estalagem Sta Iria in the Mouchão park of Tomar we’re Back after the Break. From 10.30 till it’s time for lunch we can catch up with news of friends, what they have done, where they have been; news of new events, new places to visit and get your diaries ready for date of the Christmas Lunch on 10th December 2014 at Manjar dos Templários for a second sitting of their splendid fare. New ideas are already forming; there is the initiative of a theatrical production for the New Year which should be good fun! Anyone interested in joining in the planning, prompting, propping, and promoting and acting would be very welcome on board. Plans are for meetings in different areas, Tomar, Ferreira de Zezzere, Torres Novas, if this helps to accommodate the greatest number of participants. It may not be ‘West End, but it certainly will be fun. Plans are also afoot for an evening of conviviality at a recently opened called Taverna D’Talha Medieval – you can see it using this link: godiscoverportugal/taverna-talha-tavern-tomar/ - very friendly and definitely different. Hands up all those interested in going! During the break Rose Wagner and I also went to visit Karamba – a chilli pepper farm just outside Leiria which was absolutely fascinating! A very different experience and a story of tremendous determination and hard work by the owners. If anyone is interested in visiting the farm and learning more about chillies – the varieties, their uses and their propagation and the making of condiments with them – let us know and we will arrange a date with them. In October there are plans to start thinking about the next summer event and if there is anyone who would like to join the thinking and doing group we would be delighted. It was a great event this year and gives a leg up to us for something even better in 2015 – we would love to break this year’s charity donations!
