On a lighter note, I recently penned a reply to telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/scotland/11314336/England-must-be-resolute-and-save-the-Scots-from-self-destruction.html Jock McTavish writes: Sir, I myself am a retired Ghillie and for many years I stalked the glens and heather with my, now departed, master, his bonny Lairdship. I cannot agree with your article more as I myself, for many decades now, had to protect his Lairdship’s capercaillies from bands of marauding, work-shy nationalist types – most of whom were receiving state benefits paid for by his Lairdship’s taxes. His Lairdship would shout, “To them McTavish, to them!” and I would set upon these central belt thieves with all the ferocity of a brave English bulldog protecting his lord and master. Afterwards his Lairdship would wink at me with a knowing grin and announce, “Oh McTavish! If any of these gutless separatists could read, they would be making an anthem out of ‘The Social Contract’. Sir, I myself have read the heathen words of that despicable citizen of Geneva and I was never so sickened to think of his treatment towards the hearty Hume – it causes me no end of woe to think upon what this must have done to sour poor David’s red wine and his after supper billiards. No Sir, mark my words – these “dole junkies of the central belt” must be put to the whip. They must be thrashed into line by John Bull himself; perhaps you will lead the charge yourself Sir, and if so, I for one will be by your side, beating my way through the bracken to help hammer these ruffian upstarts.
