On a long enough time span human involvement in work of any kind - TopicsExpress

On a long enough time span human involvement in work of any kind falls to zero. Last year the worlds first adaptive robot became available. For US$32,000 it can do simple work within distance of its robot arms and comes with a 3 year warranty. Thats US$10,667 per year of operation plus energy expenditure (put solar panels on the roof and thats zero). It will work slower than a human but it doesnt need tea breaks, holidays, weekends off or sleep. 24/7/365 menial work. Capitalism will break down as this scenario plays out. What will come after it? I give us 30 years before the bulk of humankind is unemployable. What then? Dystopia or utopia?
