On all horse’s birthday” 5 years ago we found this in Ben Bullen SF - surface cracks big enough to swallow a horse, 30% of cliffs in a small valley collapsed, damage so recent the leaves on trees smashed by fallen rocks were still green. The Bicentennial National Trail or National Horse Trail passes by this same area – but you wouldnt want your horse to stray off-trail here! The reason:- Baal Bone Colliery Long Wall Panel 28 had just passed underneath. This is what NSW Planning (DoPI) deems to be “insignificant”, “minor”, and “acceptable damage”. What do you think? And this is why we continually harp on about the damage mine subsidence will do to aboriginal cave art sites, world class pagoda landscapes, and endangered Shrub Swamps in the Gardens of Stone area. Because once Coalpac and Centennials proposals are approved it will be too late to do anything about it. If the DoPI’s current definition of “acceptable damage” is totally abhorrent to you, then please please tell them so in no uncertain terms at https://facebook/NSWPlanning
