On behalf of Paulstown Community Playground Group we would like to wish you all a very happy, safe and peaceful Christmas. The playground practically looks ready for play, although we are just quite not there yet. According to the latest update on construction from the company & Kilkenny County Council, the installation of the kids’ play equipment is complete and waiting for final inspection. The special safety surface has been installed. All that new equipment looks very enticing even to a grown-up. Other finishing touches to be added over the coming weeks include landscaping, picnic tables and benches. And even though the playground looks substantially finished, we ask for a little more patience from those of us itching to give it a try. It is not yet complete until the site has been cleaned up and the construction fence has been removed. We want to ensure everyone’s safety, and so remind all that the site is not open and that unauthorized visitors are not permitted. Additionally, this ensures that recently completed work such as the freshly installed safety surface is not damaged unnecessarily before it is ready. Also, we cannot open the playground at present as due to the weather at this time of year and the lack of growth. The grass surrounding the play equipment has yet to take and it would likely be damaged and require replacement if we did so. Additionally, the playground is not complete until the surface is in a usable state. Finally and importantly, the insurance of the facility by Kilkenny County Council is not yet in place. We would therefore ask everyone to avoid entering the site for any reason until such time as it is opened fully, most likely in early Spring. We will keep you posted when exactly this will happen. Again we would sincerely like to thank you for your generosity and support.
