On behalf of the men and women of Erie Firefighters Local 293, we would like to send out our deepest sympathies to the New York City Fire Dept, FDNY, on the loss of Lt. Gordon Ambelas at a hi rise fire in Brooklyn Saturday night. Lt. Ambelas was operating on the 19th floor of a building when he became trapped in an apartment and called for a mayday. Lt. Ambelas was recently hailed as a hero after rescuing a seven year old boy at a structure fire in Brooklyn. Lt. Ambelas was a 14 year veteran of the FDNY. Our condolences to his family, friends, and to his brothers and sisters of the FDNY.
