On behalf of the officers and members of the Philippine American Womens Association of Georgia, we would like to thank you for attending our 6th Annual Holiday Celebration and Fund Raising Event. With your attendance and our distinguished guests, Honorary Consul General of the Philippines Ray Donato, Executive Editor of CNN Freedom Fighter, Leif Coorlim, and PAWAG recipient, Cora Bartons presence, the event was a success and the night became extra special.. Consul Ray Donato , thank you for attending and reiterating the roles of the consulate office and PAWAG in helping Filipino abused and battered women who seek assistance from us. Thank you for helping us raise additional funds for Cora Barton. With the initial $100 you personally donated, we raised $806 total. She was given a total of $1000, $500 from the fund raising you initiated. Thank you for your guidance and mentorship. Leif Coorlim, thank you for coming and updating us of your documentary work on CNNs Freedom Fighters Project. For those who are not aware of this project, Leif is the Executive Editor of CNNs Freedom Project, a documentary film combating prostitution and human trafficking in the Philippines. This project was pioneered by Cecilia Flores-Oebanda and now Manny Pacquiao joined the battle against modern day slavery. Cora Barton, we appreciate you coming forward and speaking about your ordeal. You are so strong and brave. Two years ago, we spoke to a broken person but today, you are once again whole and very happy. I am proud of you Cora! With your intelligence and artistic talent, you will go far! We will be behind you all the way! Officers of PAWAG, Lilani Evans, Gloria Retuya Smith, Tjuleit E Dpingul, Rose M. Hall and Elizabeth Cornell, members, and volunteers, especially Dhel OShaughnessy and Grace Soriano --- thank you with all my heart! With your support, PAWAG and this event became a huge success! I wish to be like you one day :) Thank you ALL for supporting our mission on improving womens lives and to help those who are in need!! Oh, I also would like to thank Val de Ruamero for his support. I am supposed to cook at home but at times, especially this fall, I am always out working on PAWAGs programs and out with the girls doing fund raising and other outreach stuff. :) Happy Holidays to all!
