On our first visit to Thailand, my boyfriend and I agreed that we wanted to try scuba diving. As we did not have any prior experience and were limited in time, we opted for the Discover Scuba Diving program at the Phuket Scuba Club and I must say: we were not disappointed at all. From the moment we stepped into the shop we felt completely at ease with their approach. Its very laid back and makes you feel comfortable straight away. After finishing some paperwork the next day, we stepped straight into the water at Karon beach for our first dive with our instructor. Instructor Vinnie is a nice guy allround and was patient enough to answer all our (nooby) questions. Even though he seems like a very laidback kind of guy, as soon as he steps into the water he is dead serious about his profession: safety first, always! For our second dive, we took a longtail boat to a nearby island and went into the water again with instructor Vinnie and divemasters Chris & Devon. It felt great and luxurious to have 3 very experienced guys guiding us through our dive, it made the whole experience that much more safer too. After finishing our dives we regretted not having more time to spend in Phuket on diving, otherwhise we would definitely do our PADI Open Water course here. For other first-timers, both me and my boyfriend would highly recommend this place. They are laid back, yet very professional when they get down to business. We are now both thinking about getting our PADI certificate at home so we can come back some other time to do some more diving!
