On our second Christmas Eve since Miya passed away, I want to take - TopicsExpress

On our second Christmas Eve since Miya passed away, I want to take a moment to thank all of you for holding our daughter and our family close to your hearts. Your prayers, your testimonies, your love helps us more than you can know, especially at those moments when we need it most. I am thankful for this group because it has become a source of comfort for Joan and I - the parents of a remarkable child who brought so much comfort to so many others, and still is. Im thankful, because no matter how bad and frustrating things seem in the world around us, we can come here, all of us, and find people who offer each other love, prayers, and support, without hesitation or judgement. People from all walks of life, from all parts of the world. People with different beliefs. People who each have their own struggles and crosses to bear, their own battles to fight, but, because of the example of faith and courage that Miya showed us, are able to put their problems aside for a while and come together with only love and compassion in their hearts and pray for others who may need it just a little more than they do at the moment. What an extraordinary gift that is - for all of us. I thank God for guiding us through Miyas journey, always putting just the right people in our lives at the moments we needed them most. Without Chris, Gregg, and their family, this page would not exist, which I cant even imagine now. They are now OUR family. Our doctors, nurses, child care specialists - all angels in my book. Miya was looked after by the best of the best. No finer people could we have asked for, and we love them all. Many strangers who surrounded our family with love and help, lightening the load as we fought day in and day out - all angels, many of which we now call friends. Im thankful for our family members, who stepped up and helped us when we just couldnt go anymore, even when it meant putting their lives on hold for a while. It made all the difference in the world and we love you for it. I am thankful for those in our community who took it upon themselves to rally around Miya and our family and raise funds to help us with the mountain of expenses we faced on a daily basis. Your love and efforts allowed us to worry less about our finances and concentrate more on taking care of our Miya. For parents, fighting to save their childs life every second of every day, that is an IMMENSE help. We will always cherish and appreciate your help. Finally, I am thankful for my beautiful and wonderful wife, Joan and our four other children - Sebastian, Christian, Julian, and Marlee. Without you in my life, I would not be here. Thank you for putting up with me and all my craziness. Thank you for filling my life with purpose and meaning. It is not easy for any of us to deal with - losing a child, a sister, but we are together and that means everything to me. I mean that. I love you all so much. There is nothing greater I could want for Christmas than the fact of knowing I am blessed with a beautiful family (no matter how weird we may be) and the fact that one of our children is a true angel in Heaven, who continues to touch so many hearts and souls, here on earth. Merry Christmas, Angels. We love you all.
