On our way home from WA we visited a new site called Lara Wetlands Camping, on Lara Station 28 km S of Barcaldine. Look for the yellow & black sign then follow the good dirt road for 13 km to the station, when you get there sound your horn to get directed to the camp area, or follow the signs. The camp area is right on the edge of the wetlands and is an oasis! There are toilets & showers, a new BBQ camp kitchen area, fire rings and firewood provided, birds to watch and the best of all a hot pool to relax in. Jodie the owner has put lots of care into the planning and planting and it is well worth a visit.
