On the 28th of November, 2006, Benjamin Arey Thomas was born. Of course that wasnt his name yet. In fact Ben didnt get his name until two days later, the morning Pam and I got to meet and hold him for the very first time. He was tiny, with caramel colored skin, and a nose that turned up at the end. He had jet black hair that was soft and straight. His ears were folded up like a puppy and his eyes were so dark they looked black. Seven short years later, Bens birthday has fallen on Thanksgiving day. How appropriate because he is of course the one thing that Pam and I are the most thankful for. So thank you, Pam, for convincing me that adoption was the right plan for us. Thank you Pat and Ann McKenzie Piercy for helping to make our plan a reality. Thank you to all of our family, who took Ben in as their own from day one. And most of all thank you Ben for making me young again. Look at all the things I would have missed if I missed out on you. Happy Birthday Benjamin!
