On the back porch there is a fake palm tree. Every night a male cardinal comes and roosts in it. He has adopted it as his bedroom tree I guess. Tonight I was out there with a cup of coffee, enjoying the tranquility of the lake, smooth as glass. The cardinal started to fly in and came up short when he realized I was sitting at the bistro table. He checked me out and then ducked in the far side and made his way to his bedbranch. I think he was a little miffed that I disturbed his bed time.
