On the bus headed back to EC - wanted to say HOW PROUD I AM OF THE MACU MUSTANG MEN! Also wanted to say a HUGE SHOUTOUT to some awesome alums, friends of the program and family of the Mustangs who showed up to support us! Also a big thanks to all those who followed online and were posting pics & videos of the game - that was very cool to see us being followed by so many in far away places - so EXTREMELY PROUD TO BE A MUSTANG! Yes - the final score was ugly as we got beat 133-62 by a hard-working & hustling VMI team - much credit to all those young men for doing what they do at a Military school and being solid student athletes. It is a powerful reminder of how strong the Division 1 student athlete has to be! But let me also say how proud I am of the way our guys never stopped fighting. Anyone can keep working when you are up by 60+ points and trying to break records and get your name in the book. But it takes a very tough minded and team-oriented player who doesnt stop fighting when you are down by 70 points. I saw some VERY IMPRESSIVE things by some of our young men in the final few minutes of this game. I also want to share that at one point in the game one of the officials, a guy who has seen a LOT of basketball and has been around some of the top levels. He came over to Coach Harris and myself and commended our team on never giving up, working hard and their attitudes. He spoke highly of how well composed our team was even in the midst of a very difficult circumstance. Tonight one of our young men challenged the team before the game with a devo about LOVE - to Love each other as a team, to Love this game and give it all you have but most importantly to LOVE GOD! I can honestly say these guys lived up to that challenge tonight. They fought for each other - they played hard a game they loved and they represented our Heavenly Father and their University at the highest level! Hopefully this was just a first step in a continued growth of the future of this program. I am so happy that each of these young men will be able to look back and be proud to have been a part of this Historic night! HUGE FINAL SHOUTOUT To Miss Andrea Strawderman for being the GREATEST BUS DRIVER EVER and to Mr. Michael Davis for driving all over to be there to cover the game for us. Be excited and on the lookout for his follow up pics and story on gomacumustangs about this tremendous evening. On a side note - the MACU Mustangs Athletic Site has blown up with the highest # of hits EVER on one day - so I LOVE seeing all the great love from Mustang Nation!!! Spread the Word - Back the Herd - GO MUSTANGS!!! Prayers for safe travel home are greatly appreciated! #MACUatVMI
