On the eve of Independence Day..... PATRIOTISM Patriotism is a blissful feeling….it’s all about loving and caring our motherland! The desire to stay dear to one’s nation gives one the sense of patriotism. It is said that Mother & Motherland are holier than the heavens…. My dear friends, I, Ishan Mukherjee of Class V_ from Sunbeam Bhagwanpur, am here to say few words on Patriotism. At the very start, I must say that ‘Patriotism’ in today’s context has actually become a cosmetic feeling realized only when we hear applause from far & wide places about some feats accomplished by Indians !!! We all love our nation, our National Anthem, our Tricolor Flag….and almost everything that symbolizes the unique fabric of India being a nation with cultural diversity and beauty. But, sad to say that we Indians love to love a feeling only…and seldom come out to endeavour practically to toil hard for the cause behind the feeling…. Dear friends, it’s time to do something beyond talking about the already sung stories of heroic sacrifices of great freedom fighters and celebrating their ‘D’ Days on red calendar days ! The 21st century India is of the youth ! We need to think global and act local to make our country strong from within .... We have plenty of reasons to curse the system...to criticise govt and its machinery... But how many times do we take the first step ahead or raise the first voice? We are patriotic citizens in a way that we love our nation and every good thing about our nation! But we will be truly patriotic if we start taking small steps to value our resources and relations with others surtounding us. We all know that petrol and diesel being going scarce everyday is becoming more and more expensive...but how many of us did think of saving fuel by promoting common pool of vehicles? We all cry over water crisis...how many of us do really mind saving water even in our domestic use? We all curse the local govt bodies for dilapidated roads and spillage of garbage all over the city...but how many of us did ring up the responsible officials to awaken them from their slumber ...even though their phone nos are clearly mentioned on the sign boards alongside all public projects? We all despise a lot the poor traffic condition of the city...but did we stop overtaking others ftom the wrong sides? ...the so called black holes are far away in the skies...but we dont need telescopes to see the plenty of potholes & manholes gawking around us wherever we go...how many of us have raised our voice ever for these issues...yes, no doubt there have been so many intellectual seminars and disvussions on international foryms for the BLACK HOLES in the skies though!!! Dear friends, love for our country makes us patriotic..and the country is made of small cities, towns and villages...we we start caring for these small units of our country in our own limited capacity, will we not be serving the nation with a pure and innocent heart? Yes, we will. So lets start taking care of things right from our homes...cities and towns...the values we learn at school are the seeds we need to sow wherever we go, to finally reap the harvest of prosperity for our nation! We all have said many a time...achhe din ane wale hai ...let us all take a vow for our nation that together we will bring better days for our nation..hum achhe din LANE wale hai...!!! Jai Hind!!!
