On the evening of Saturday, November 16th, 2013, I went to Medina - TopicsExpress

On the evening of Saturday, November 16th, 2013, I went to Medina Ken Dukes Stadium to see a Division V High School Football playoff game between Huron and Loudonville. It was the first time that I had been to this stadium since November 2011 when I saw Creston Norwayne beat Orrville 34-19 in a playoff game. Huron scored first to take a 7-0 lead. However, Loudonville came back with their own touchdown. Huron got called for being offside on the extra point attempt, so Loudonville tried to go for two only to fail on a run attempt. This made the score 7-6. Huron added a field goal before halftime to make the score 10-6. Nobody scored again until late in the fourth quarter when Loudonville got a touchdown to take a 13-10 lead. When Huron started their final drive, there was about 3:20 left on the clock. When Huron was in Loudonville territory around the 35-yard line, they finally got the big play. Three guys came after the quarterback and appeared to have him trapped. However, the QB scrambled away from the pressure just like he had done a few other times in the game and found a receiver wide open down the right side of the field. The receiver was able to get all the way down to the 2-yard line, and Huron proceeded to punch it in from there. Huron took a 17-13 lead with only 1:11 left. Loudonville had to handle a squib kick which rolled inside the 5-yard line. It looked like it was going to roll into the end zone but it didnt make it. The Loudonville player was forced to pick up the ball, and he got tackled at his own five. They ran a few plays without success and ended up throwing an interception on a long pass down the center of the field. The game was over at that point. During the evening, I ordered some food from the concession stand. I got a cheeseburger that was pretty good but my slice of pepperoni pizza was cold. They prepared the food ahead of time in order to serve people faster and it sat under heat lamps for quite a while. My snickers bar was good, and I got a cup of hot chocolate later on which was also good. I got back to my car and saw that it was only 9:26 p.m. I decided that I could make a late show at the Southpark 14 Theatre in Strongsville. I had my parents GPS device with me, so it was easy to find my way to Strongsville. The GPS guided me northeast along Route 3 then had me take Interstate 71 to Route 82. I got to the movie theater plenty early and bought a ticket for the 10:20 p.m. showing of Free Birds in 3D. The cost was $13.25 for a 3D movie. I went to the concession stand and ordered a large Sprite flavored ICEE and a box of Whoppers which set me back $8.25. The only other people in the auditorium was a young couple. However, there were quite a few people in the lobby to see other movies. The Best Man Holiday seemed to be popular. I ended up leaving the theater about 12:10 a.m., and after I got gas, I proceeded to make the long trip down Route 82 towards Route 20 and got home about 1:00 a.m.
