On the topic of shopping small I wanted to share a few personal stories. By using small stores you get a level of personal care and relationship that exists nowhere else. About 8 years ago my parents had a water heater go out. They were a bit concerned as the money would not be there until Monday. I told them to let me see what we could do. The first call to a small business had me picking up in an hour and my parents coming in to pay them on Monday. About 3 years ago our snow blower broke down on the morning of Dec. 23rd. In looking for the part I called a small store and told them, however they were closing in an hour. There was a major snow storm predicted or the next 2 days. The response; The part will be in the mailbox, just settle up with us after the holidays. And just yesterday I was working on getting my wedding band fixed and a missing diamond installed. I walked out of a store with 3 diamonds with the message just take them to your favorite jeweler to see which one works best bring back the other two and pay for the one they used. All of these stories are from Washington stores, it is the kind of town we are and why I support them so strongly!! You will never see this kind of relationship in a big store system, never.
