On the spur of the moment, I rescued 29 (12) blocks - already hand quilted from eBay (loved the 80s fabric this is used) using polyester batting..the batting extends for about 1/2 around each square. I couldnt bear to see them just languishing on the auction block so bought them for $34 plus shipping. They are awesome - all kinds of blocks - pinwheels, log cabins, stars, dresdens, little house, tulips, etc. The quilting is very evenly (but not exquisitely) done...I am a new quilter - have only made two 4-patches...but want to put this together to use on our bed in the winter. How do you put them together? Do you trim the batting even with the fabric then sew even seams (what 1/4? 1/2?) to put them together? I can figure out a border with not a problem...just dont know how to connect them without ruining them....the are all in rusts and navy and chocolates and cream colors - tiny little florals, etc..any ideas will be greatly welcomed.
