On the way back from the Historic Naval Ships Association conference, ships curator Stephanie Croatt and maintenance & restoration supervisor Travis Davis stopped by the USS ALABAMA Battleship Memorial Park to visit and pick up four gun sights. These Mk 15 gun sights were on Battleship TEXAS during her operations in the Pacific and were used to help coax the balky big Mk 50 gun directors on target for the 3 guns. It appears that these sights were removed in early 1946 and shipped to Puget Sound where they were put in storage aboard the battleship ALABAMA until they were brought home last week.
