People around here Sallisaw and across three states are fighting - TopicsExpress

People around here Sallisaw and across three states are fighting against an invading giant. That giant is Clean Line: Plains and Eastern projected line that is set (so they say) to run parallel to I-40. The towers are gigantic, 200 feet high. Twice as high as the highest existing lines. 7-8 towers per mile that may have harmful emissions. Cheaper than buried lines and it defeats the purpose of clean energy that is supposed to have less environmental impact including harm to people and wildlife. They are also DC lines and only 3 lines of this type can be found in the world that compare. Those lines were accepted in Russia and China. A very intrusive and radical idea with lines that emmit radiation or other harmful emmissions. This plan was begun during the Bush administration to enable the Department of Energy to enter into a partnership with a energy business entity, a radical departure for the DOE and a first. This is a PRIVATE (not puplic or coop) business endeaver started by two Texas businessmen. One of the two founders of this company (misleadingly names Clean Line energy) was in fact a head in the DOE during the Bush years who actually created the provision enabling the DOE to couple with a business enterprise in 2005. In other words it is a scam that dates from there until now. It has taken time since to build momentum and investors but it has come to fruition now. It was given public utillity status in Oklahoma by way of a single appointees decision without debate. That has enabled it to cross our lands in such a way. It is a huge endeaver and the irony is, it will be outdated by the time it is completed. As it relates to my community, a southern route has been chosen over land that has already been cleared because it is cheaper and more convenient for them. The problem is, the route is the most populated area as well. I found out about it and looked at the satelite map of the proposed routes. THE SOUTHER PROPOSED ROUTE PASSES THROUGH THE STOKES-SMITH STOMP GROUNDS. Marble City is also mislabeled as being 5 miles south on the map than where it actually sits. The maps are difficult to read and misleading. For one thing, the zoom only allows for a broad view without showing much detail of existing structures and roads to guide the viewer. That may me set to change soon becuase of protests. This is all over Cherokee Country and our council is not aware of the magnitude of the crises. No one seems to be aware of this. The company is set to begin the project in mid December. It has been snuck up on people and is a surprise to everyone. I think all Cherokee citizens should be aware of this. Everyone says the Sierra Club back it which I understand. I do not oppose clean energy not one bit but the way this project is drawn out and implements goes against the core concept of green energy production as explained above. I dont think the orignal Sierra Club would approve of Clean Lines methods which are bypassing everyones rejections. This is a problem that people in towns and cities should be aware of in its true form. CL is acting desparate now and is even offering financial incentives to private citizens and communities to endorse them without stating the true nature of this project. It may already be printed out in outlets here like the Tulsa World. I dont know since I do not get that paper. Thank you however to the Sequoyah Times for printing out the version that is actually happening here and the surrounding areas.
