On the way home from work this morning, was going through facebook posts and came across a thread about the debate. Inevitably, with all the Yessers celebrating Salmonds performance, there were a couple of doom and gloom merchants from the other side, one of whom was very much of the Im clever and calm and logical and far superior to you types going on about how BofE wouldnt be lender of last resort and how well start off with a £12 billion deficit. I couldnt help myself, and just had to respond. Here it is... Oh no! Were too poor! Too wee! Too stupid! And were not even genetically programmed to make political decisions! F*ck the cereal! Lets run out and vote no now before some of these cybernats brainwashes us! On a more realistic note, Standard and Poors has already given iScotland a triple A rating, and Swinney has already said there will be some borrowing during the initial stages. If Cameron and co reject the tabling of sharing BofE assets, there goes the £12 billion deficit! Oil will not pay for everything, thats the no camp propaganda telling us itll need to and then immediately telling us theres not enough left to do that! Oil is about 15% of the revenue, true, but once trident goes there is more exploration to be done on the west coast and the Clyde basin. Are the oil companies going to say No thanks, weve got enough to last, thank you? No, I dont think so. Theyre in the business of making money and theyll be queuing up for licences to explore. And who knows, maybe the next generation will have a brand new oil boom to deal with. Oh, such a curse! On a final note, Ive just read a post from a German businessman who has come to invest in Scotland IN THE HOPE that we will choose self-determination. As he put it, investors dont come for the £, €, or $. They come for the resources, including the workforce and the customers.
