On the way to work this morning, I hit a deer. The impact made my right hand slip off the wheel and punch the windshield, ripping off my entire right thumbnail. The deer was a doe, it died instantly. The deer hit the front of my car with its whole right side, rolled up the hood towards the windshield, then slid off the right of my car onto the curb and grass. The deer is dead beside the road on River Road across from the Seabees memorial. The car has a dented bumper, hair in the grill, and a little frame damage but is still drive able. I drove the rest of the way to work. The school nurse wrapped my bleeding thumb and I taught periods 1-5 until the adrenaline wore off completely. Now Im home waiting for my dr to call back with suggestions for pain control, nail regrowth and how to avoid infection in a wound so open.
