On this day, 1805, famous Cambridge character Lord Byron arrived at Trinity College, just three days after the Battle of Trafalgar. Upon his arrival he instructed his lawyer to bring to him four dozen bottles of wine, port and sherry, including a dozen bottles of Claret and Madeira . Byron, who became infamous for his antics at the university wrote that he admired the college lifestyle, adding that the appearance of college robes was superb.
