On this day (Nov. 12) in 1931: Abbey Road Studios was opened at 3 Abbey Road in Londons pricey St. Johns Wood by the Gramophone Company, a predecessor of UK music company EMI, its present owner; it is most notable for being the venue in the 60s for innovative recording techniques adopted by The Beatles, Pink Floyd, The Hollies, Badfinger & others; towards the end of 2009, it came under threat of sale to property developers; the British Government stepped in to protect the site, granting it English Heritage Grade II listed status in 2010, thereby preventing the building from any major alterations…
