On this day, five years ago a catastrophic magnitude earthquake shook Haitis foundation. It was estimated about three million people were affected by the quake. An earthquake that was felt around the world by people of all nations. Since then billions has been donated in humanitarian and development aid as Haiti continues to recover from the after math of the earth quake. According to United Nations, the government predicts that by the end of the year 80,000 people will out their camps into a home with a structured roof. Haiti was the first First Black Nation to win our freedom from slavery, sending a shock wave around the world and letting it be known to all slaves that they can do the same. Remembering Haitis great accomplishments in history will showcase our relentless and how strong we will always be as a nation. If you did not know the first European University was in Haiti and the first Cathedral was built in Haiti and so much more! Regardless the obstacles that were put up against Haiti that suppress the nation, we kept pushing forward.
