On this day in 1526 .. Ottomans led by Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent crushed allied Europeans armies in the Battle of Mohács ..Sultan Suleiman gathered his huge army in Istanbul and marched accompanied with his Grand Vizier Pargalı Ibrahim Pasha .. he reached the Ottoman city of Belgrade then crossed Danube river until he reached Mohács ... and on this day the two armies engaged in one of the fastest huge battles in history .. it took the Ottoman army only 1.5 hours to defeat the army that contained forces from Hungary , Holy Roman Empire , Papal states and Bohemia ..The Hungarian king Lois II and more than 20000 of his army were killed .. and the most of the rest were captured ..After the battle .. the Kingdom of Hungary collapsed .. and Sultan Suleiman continued his march until he entered the Hungarian capital ,Buda , where he appointed a puppet king and received congratulations for the victory from the French and Venetian ambassadors .. then he went back to his capital Istanbul
