On this day in 1941, President Franklin D. Roosevelt gave orders to attack any German or Italian vessels found in U.S. defensive waters. The U.S. had not officially entered WWII at this point. In 1959, The U.S. Congress passed a bill to create food stamps. In 1990 - U.S. President Bush vowed "Saddam Hussein will fail" in an address to Congress about the Persian Gulf crisis. Bush spoke of a new world order - "free from the threat of terror, stronger in the pursuit of justice, and more secure in the quest for peace". In 2001 - Four airliners were hijacked and intentionally crashed. Two airplanes hit the World Trade Center, which collapsed shortly after. One airplane hit the Pentagon. The last crashed into a field in Pennsylvania. Approximately, 3,000 people lost their lives in this attack. #NeverForget
