On this day in.... 2009: Samoa Joe vs Homicide (c) for the TNA X-Division Championship, TNA Hard Justice on August 16th, 2009. During 2009, Samoa Joe had a change in attitude, a change which saw him turn on the TNA Frontline, and joining sides with the Main Event Mafia as he helped Kurt Angle capture the TNA World Heavyweight Title. After a while, it was revealed this was all down to one man advising Joe, and I guess its fair to say as far as the Samoan Submission Machine was concerned....the mood was about to change. During a grudge match at TNA Victory Road with Sting, former ECW Champion, Taz made his TNA debut, coming to the ring to help Joe pick up a huge win over the Icon, and revealing himself as the man who had been advising Joe. But why Joe, and why now? Taz would reveal on Impact, that he saw a lot of himself in Samoa Joe, apart from 1 thing: Joe showed remorse for his opponents. Taz was about to take Joe under his wing, and take him to the next level. That same night, Joe would challenge Homicide for the X-Division title, only to lose his cool, attack the referee, and refuse to break a Coquina Clutch until Hernandez made his TNA return to save his former LAX partner. Hernandez would first step up and defeat Joe, in which Taz would claim it was more a case of Joe still showing remorse. Homicide would offer Samoa Joe another title shot, as he promised to show the Latino Nation was stronger than the Nation of Violence. The match was accepted, as Taz promised that he would get Joes head straight, and bring the X-Division title to the Main Event Mafia. TNA Hard Justice would take place at the Impact Zone in Orlando, Florida on August 16th, 2009, and heres the full match video as Samoa Joe challenges Homicide for the TNA X-Division Championship! #TNA - https://youtube/watch?v=IqiP6F_xcx4
