On this day, my thoughts return to my home town of Enniskillen, N. Ireland which - on Nov. 11 1987 - was the scene of what has become known as The Poppy Day Bombing - a terrorist atrocity aimed at the military and police personnel who were gathering on Remembrance Day at the local Cenotaph. 11 civilians - all Christians, and known to Pat and I - died, and many more were injured. When the news broke that day, we were living 50 miles away, but immediately returned home to be with family and friends as we tried to make sense out of something that was insensible. 27 years later, we still remember it - and those who were murdered. This video is raw footage of that morning, but reminds us of the ever present threat to democracy and freedom, so valiantly defended by our veterans - both in the past, as well as still today - lest we forget.
