On this day of 7th March, in the year 1876 Alexander Graham Bell was granted a patent for an invention he called the telephone. On this same day in the year 1971 Sheikh Mujibur Rahman delivered his historic speech at Suhrawardy Udyan (Formerly known as Ramna Race Course Ground, Dhaka). In the year 1985, on this day the song We Are the World received its international release. This day in the year 1989 witnessed Iran and the United Kingdom breaking diplomatic relations after a row over Salman Rushdie and his controversial novel, The Satanic Verses. The day of Tuesday 7th March 2006, will always be remembered as a black day because the terrorist organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba coordinated a series of bombings in the holy city of Varanasi on that day
