On this note, I think Im going to call it a day. 12,200 words. :) Slow progress, but progress nonetheless. “Don’t tell me Rafael has been a bad boy?” Tim is one of only two people in the world who call my boyfriend Rafael. The other one is my mother, on those occasions when she can’t avoid referring to him by name. But Mother’s inflection is very different from Tim’s. She always sounds like she smells something bad when she says his name. Tim curls his tongue around each syllable as if he imagines curling that same tongue around Rafe’s ear. It’s disconcerting. :-D
