On this upcoming Saturday, March 8, my mentor and former pastor, Pastor Randy Nabors will be in town and will be doing a seminar with his assistant Robert Blevins. The seminar will be at the John O Daniel Exchange (801 Gilbert St.) from 10am-noon. Randy, his wife Joan and Robert will speak on becoming a Cross-Cultural church, Mercy Ministry, Community Outreach, Understanding Inner-City Youth and Community Development. Randy will also be preaching Sunday morning at 10am. Randy Nabors is the founding pastor of New City Fellowship Church (P.C.A) (newcityfellowship) in Chattanooga, TN. New City Fellowship started as a ministry in urban Chattanooga in 1969 and was officially organized as a church in 1976. It is a diverse church with Anglos, African-Americans, Latinos, and Kenyans all represented. It now has nearly 1,000 members at two sites. Under Pastor Nabors leadership, New City has started four non-profits; Hope for the Inner City (hope4theinnercity.org) a community development non-profit, LifeSpring Community Health Center(lifespringcommunityhealth.org) a free non-profit clinic for the under-resourced, Chattanooga Sports Ministries (csm.is) a non-profit using sports as an avenue for outreach and discipleship and R3International (r3international.org) a missions and disaster response non-profit formed after Hurricane Katrina. He retired from New City in May, 2012 and now works for Mission to North America as the Coordinator of its Urban and Mercy Ministries. He has also started The New City Network, a network of churches seeking to be gospel-centered, cross-cultural and community development minded. Please come out to this seminar and Sunday worship. Invite friends. Refreshments will be served. Let us know if you are coming so that we can get enough food. Please invite friends!
