On this weeks Bottomless Pit Im still dealing, musically, with my recent road trip out West. In the Joshua Tree area of California I saw an old friend, Victoria Williams, and over the next few weeks Ill be playing some of her remarkable and singular music on the show. Her records are a real treasure trove, thats for sure.. But the most of the show this week, about 65% of it, will feature the music of the great Mitch Ryder, which is way more eclectic, and theres much more of it, than many people realize. I read Mitchs autobiography during my trip. Its one of those books where you have to wash your hands every time you put it down, but I was moved by it, dug it. And likewise for his music that I heard for the first time after reading.. Thats the Bottomless Pit, Saturdays at 10 PM (NY Time), on WFUV Public Radio
