On todays Poster From The Past the central image is of a human - TopicsExpress

On todays Poster From The Past the central image is of a human face with a very stylized drawing of a bird with a peacocks tail next to it. This piece was created by Rock Artist (and past wife of Bill Graham) Bonnie MacLean and is widely considered to be one of the very best of the many posters that she did during the psychedelic era and in the Fillmore numbered poster series. While the colors are not electric or vibrating, they are distinctively very different from color use in earlier poster art, and they definitely draw the eyes and demand attention the way psychedelic art is supposed to. I find that her use of color is far more subtle than many of the other poster artists of the time. It was 47 years ago on this day back in July of 1967 that six days of concerts were taking place with performances by the likes of, The Yardbirds, The Doors, The James Cotton Blues Band and Richie Havens live at the Fillmore Auditorium here in the city that ROCKS…. San Francisco. This poster is BG number #75 in the old Fillmore poster series and was printed a total of three times! If it floats yer boat.....Share it ! Certainly Approved by Professor Poster
