On what foundation are you building your house? Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock, and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand, and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall. (Matthew 7:24-27) Jesus describes two houses that were built. From the indication that we have in His parable, we cant find anything different about them. They basically look the same. But its not the house that matters, it is the foundation that matters most. Based on the foundation the house will stand. Since life is full of suprises, for we dont know when the rains,floods and winds will come. For this we need to build our lives on the teachings of Jesus Christ and do what He says. As Mary said Do whatever he tells you. Even the Moses who said to the children of Israel, The lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. Him you shall hear. If we today believe every word that Jesus said in His teaching and obey, we would be like the house that was built upon the rock which is Jesus, For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 3:11). Even in Ephesians 2:20-22, the bible teaches us that, we need built up spiritually on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone. If we as parents wanting our children to obey us in everything that we say unto them, then how much more your Heavenly Father who gave you life on this earth expects you to obey Him in every area of your life and be submissive as a little child. When we listen to Him and obey, the house you build will stand all rains, floods and winds of life. Five good responses to the word 1. Something has to change at my house. As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord (Josh. 24:15). 2. I realize that my faith is weak. Lord, I believe, help my unbelief (Mark 9:24). 3. Thats a hard saying, Jesus. But, Ill obey it, because I love you. 4. God, I know that you can do all things, change my heart and help me obey. 5. Ill go home today and make it right. It is upto us the lay the right foundation in our lives and in our families.....So on which foundation are you going to build yours lives? on the Rock or on the sand....the choice is yours.
