Once again, my opinion runs counter to the critics! I really enjoyed the film One For The Money based on the novel by Janet Evanovich. Ill be honest, I wasnt at all familiar with the series of novels based on a kick-ass female bail bonder. Apparently, they are extremely popular and thats probably why I didnt know about them. Maybe that was what upset the critics, I dont know. That being said, the film is very well plotted, it is funny and moves quickly (only 91 minutes). The acting and directing is good and solid. What more can you ask of a film? I enjoyed it so much that I found myself wishing for a sequel before it was half over. Katherine Heigl plays heroine Stephanie Plum, a gorgeous Jersey girl who lost her job as a lingerie sales person in Newark. About to be evicted from her apartment, she takes a job hunting down bail skippers. She can make 50 grand if she can bring in her ex-boyfriend, a cop who has been accused of murder. Lots of fun. Oh, her family is great, especially Debbie Reynolds as her weird grandmother!
