Once upon a time, close to three decades ago, l met a man who in my opinion was Gods most wonderful creation. In him l saw a future, l saw a dad and future companion. In no time without allowing tribe to be a factor, l married this man. Our wonderful union produced three beautiful children and one grand child. This man was a full blown bemba man whom l had the privilege to call my husband. Fast forward thirty years later, our Tonga\Bemba children dont even know what tribalism looks like or smells like. Im so proud of my children that l dont even want them to read Zambian newspapers that are so full of hate and almost setting Zambia ablaze with tribal remarks. Here in the united states, my grown children do not even know which province or tribe Lungu and Hakainde come from. Understandably this is ignorance on their part but for now l cherish their ignorance. In their minds lies an innocent feeling of just being Zambians and nothing else. I wish l could rewind the hands of time and be young again at Rusangu secondary school where friends like Aggie Bwalya, Vivien Hidie, Rose Ruzira, Enid Mumba, Sharon Hanyoolo and many others saw no tribe. We still remain friends to this day. Tribalists, lm praying for you in 2015. You are my prayer request.
