Once upon a time, there was a BEAUTIFUL pibble boy.... white, with brown patches and a very handsome brown double mask.... when he was very young, he fell into the hands of very despicable people who did awful things to him, including cutting his ears off with scissors or a knife.... just to make him look tough. Nobody but the pibble and the despicable people know what his life was like for many years.... but when he started getting older and got some easily treated skin conditions, they dumped him off to die.... This was the pibbles lucky day, though, because some nice ladies saw him and thought he deserved a 2nd chance. The nice Tammy Wyman lady took him into her home and treated the skin conditions and fed him lots of good food.... and named him Zeus. Zeus loved his Tammy and Tammy loved Zeus.... his skin started getting better and he gained weight to become healthy again.... Then, one day, a rescue far, far away in Illinois said they would take Zeus and find him his perfect forever home.... and even though it made Tammy very sad, she let him go so she could help another dog...... On the day Zeus left Tammy, he was VERY scared, but his first driver, Angie Haas Andrews was also a nice lady and helped him feel better.... when Zeus and Angie got to St. Louis, he was too scared to get out of her jeep, until ANOTHER nice lady named June offered her bran muffin.... he jumped right out and had a nice snack..... Then he had to get in ANOTHER car with me..... we started on our journey to Bloomington and he was so terrified, he just trembled and couldnt even look at me..... I took off my sunglasses so he could see my eyes, I stroked him softly and slowly and gave him treats every now and again..... after abt 45 minutes, he started to trust me and after abt an hour, he laid down with his front feet on my leg and finally relaxed enough to doze some.... Of course, when we went over bumps in the highway, those paws on my leg clenched into a death grip..... its gonna take my thigh a couple of days to recoup from THAT..... We stopped at a rest area for a potty break and just as I suspected, he needed to go and hopped right out of the car.... hopped right back in when he was done.... I noticed his tail was tucked abt half the time and held normally abt half the time... An hour or so later, we got ro our handoff spot in Bloomington..... once again, he hopped right out of the car for walkies and potties..... only this time, his tail was NOT tucked and actually WAGGED a bit..... he hopped right back Into the car and was a perfect gentleman while I got the other passengers out to walk..... He was a little nervous again when he had to get in Jacks van.... even a little growley.... but I think the rest of the bran muffin fixed that.... And now he is settling in to his foster home until the right forever home finds him.... And this is why I do what I do..... there are a MILLION Zeuses out there. ....
