Ondo by-election: Choice of candidate stokes crisis in APC The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State may record poor performance in the April 5 by-election into the Ilaje/Ese- Odo Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives if efforts are not made to reconcile aggrieved members of the party. The APC last week announced a former Chairman of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas, (OSOPADEC), Mr. Adewale Omojuwa, as its candidate for the by- election. However, it was learnt that the choice of Omojuwa has led to crisis in the constituency as some members have vowed not to support him. A former student union leader and banker, Mr. Bola Ajimuda, was said to have been earlier recommended by the APC Screening/Selection Committee as the party’s flag bearer. Sources said the committee headed by a Second Republic Senator, Olorunnimbe Farukanmi, conducted the selection following the failure of the Ilaje/Ese-Odo APC Elders’ Forum led by Prof. Fola Ebisemiju to pick a candidate from 11 aspirants. The selection committee considered the academic background, managerial and political experience, acceptability, integrity, propensity for performance, articulation and communication skill, charisma capability of the aspirants. According to Farukanmi in his report, four of the aspirants, Olusoji Ehinlanwo, Adebambo Odoro, Ajimuda and Omojuwa, showed the capacity to represent the constituency.
