One Ice Bucket Challenge You Must Watch: KissMyALS The frequent social media users amongst you will have no doubt seen your Twitter and Facebook newsfeeds overflowing with people dunking buckets of freezing icy water over their heads and then nominating their friends (or enemies) to do the same and/or donate to charity instead. I’m sure some of you might be a little bit bored of these seemingly puerile antics and may be inclined to just skim over these videos. But if there’s one Ice Bucket Challenge you need to watch it’s this one. Rather just seeing someone you know or a famous person dunk some cold water over their heads, this video features a young man named Anthony Carbajal. At the beginning of the video Anthony is dressed in bright pink hotpants and an orange bikini top and is flaunting himself over a car. The silliness of the intro is no doubt something that Anthony consciously decided to include in order to try and counterbalance the disturbing and upsetting content that comes later on. For at just 26-years old, Anthony has been diagnosed with the debilitating disease Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) which some of you may also know as motor neurone disease (MND). Anthony explains that it is a disease that has afflicted several generations of his family and why it terrifies him, he also explains why he thinks people are reluctant to talk about it and this is why it remains on the fringes. Anthony also tells us that because it is quite rare and isn’t a big money maker, pharmaceutical companies aren’t really inclined to put the research into finding a cure.
