One New Yorker wrote, "Public School children not permitted to use a staircase because the co-occupying charter school students and faculty are the only ones permitted to use those stairs with cameras set up to record anyone not belonging - I do not call that equal co-habitation of a school. In addition, the Times never addresses the fact that charters do not have to accept ESL, Special Ed., or students with other challenges. Can public schools pick their students? Until charters must accept any applicant, there will not be an accurate way to compare their "success"." AYUP to that. Corporatizing education by skimming the cream and then comparing results is ridiculous. We do NO student a favor privatizing education for the few at the expense of the many... that fosters an elitist attitude in one and defeatist attitudes in many. All students, all children, must have equal access to a quality education if we are to continue to succeed as a nation.
